To celebrate another great quarter, Quantum Mob went axe throwing at Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL) last Friday. BATL has been operating near the Toronto harbourfront since 2014 in a converted building that used to house a munitions factory. The wide ceilinged building is split into lanes with targets at the end separated with chain fences to separate the competitors and spectators. These lanes are where members of the Quantum Mob team competed for the title of axe throwing champion.

Spectators remain behind the lines while the pairs of competitors play 3 games of 5 axe throws, trying to score the most points possible by sticking the axe to different areas of the wooden target. In the case of a tie at the end of game 3, handheld axes are set aside in favour of the “big axe”, a full sized axe thrown with both hands in a best of one competition between the tied competitors. Open qualifiers led to a series of head to head elimination matches, with only the very best in the office getting the opportunity to take home the victory.

In the end, the day was won by Joel, a member of the Quantum Mob sales team, beating out Nahuel to claim the trophy that now sits on his desk.
